Fort Meade resident dies of COVID-19
FORT GEORGE G. MEADE, Md. - A Fort Meade resident passed away from suspected complications related to COVID-19 on Mon., April 13. The individual, a military retiree, tested for COVID-19 on March 30 and a positive test result was communicated to the individual on April 2. The patient was self-isolating at home on Fort Meade.
The resident was transported to a civilian hospital where he died. The name will be withheld until 24 hours after the family has been notified.
This is the first death of a Fort Meade resident in connection to COVID-19. There are approximately 11,000 service members, dependents, government civilians, contractors and retirees who live on Fort Meade.
Fort Meade is employing every resource to protect service members, their families and their civilian co-workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
