Press Release: AAC Library employee tests positive, facility closed until Thursday the 15th

Press Release From AAC Public Library:

Annapolis, Md., (October 13, 2020) - Officials for the Anne Arundel County Public

Library (AACPL) today announced that an employee at the Maryland City at Russett Library has tested positive for COVID-19.

The library staffer was last in the building on Saturday, October 10 and began experiencing symptoms.

Out of an abundance of caution, the branch will be closed for all services immediately

through Wednesday, October 14 for enhanced cleaning and to allow time for employees to be

tested. Additionally, as is the current systemwide policy, all returned library materials are

quarantined for six days based on recommendations from state library officials.

Library employees continue to take recommended safety precautions including required

mask usage; social distancing of at least six feet; sneeze guards at points of interaction; very

limited numbers of customers in the building at one time and enhanced cleaning.

AACPL policy requires infected staff to receive medical clearance before returning to

work. Anne Arundel County has a Public Safety Order that requires the use of face masks in

public settings. The health department also recommends that residents practice physical

distancing, wash their hands often, and get tested immediately if they have any concerns about exposure or if they have any symptoms of COVID-19.
