Press Release (Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA)
MD 450 (DEFENSE HIGHWAY) MAINTENANCE AND CONSTRUCTION WORK IN ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY CONTINUES
(July 15, 2020) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) is implementing flagging operations as work continues to minimize flooding along MD 450 (Defense Highway) in Gambrills, Anne Arundel County.
Flagging operations will be in effect between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. weekdays through next week.
Work began earlier this year for the realignment of the Bell Branch channel. Crews have cleaned the sediment-filled culverts located east of Huntwood Drive where the Bell Branch channel crosses MD 450. Crews are starting work on the south side of MD 450 for the southern part of the channel.
MDOT SHA’s contractor, Romano Concrete Construction of Laurel, MD, is performing the work.
MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving and, look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes. Drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.
